This year we invite you to join a milestone celebration of collaboration and impact, and we’re kicking things off with a fundraising campaign to support our joint programs in Guatemala!
As ABPD marks its 20th anniversary in 2026 and ALDEA approaches its 60th anniversary in 2027, ABPD board members and staff will summit Acatenango volcano this February to honor the endurance of our partnership and to raise funds for our integrated development initiatives.
Guided by the legacy of Dr. Carroll Behrhorst, whose pioneering public health and development work laid the foundation for this partnership, our teams are committed to advancing community-led development, and your contribution will directly fuel that work. This winter, help us raise $20,000 to fund development projects that directly improve the health and well-being of Guatemalan families!

For our hike participants, climbing Acatenango is a privilege and a chance to give back. They are motivated by a shared desire to contribute to the well-being of Guatemalan families and to continue supporting that work. Many are inspired by ABPD’s commitment to empowering women, youth, and community leaders to create sustainable change; others feel that joining the fundraiser is a way to be part of lasting impact and to help build a dignified, sustainable future for communities. Participants also believe a shared vision is key to driving community development, and they bring deep affection for the organization and confidence that, together, they can achieve much more.
If you’d like to support this shared journey, consider donating to help reach our $20,000 goal and fuel community-led projects in Guatemala!
