We are excited to announce that ALDEA has been selected to receive a $25,000 grant from the Luis von Ahn Foundation. Mr. von Ahn, a highly successful tech entrepreneur, established his Foundation in 2021 to make a difference in his home country of Guatemala, and we are thrilled that ALDEA has been chosen as a partner in this mission. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mr. von Ahn and his staff for awarding ALDEA funds that will support our community-led development programs in Guatemala, with a focus on women’s empowerment. This generous gift will go a long way in improving health and building the capacity of women and girls to serve as leaders in their communities.
Luis von Ahn is a Guatemalan entrepreneur living and working in the United States who is determined to use his success as a platform to advance of social justice in his home country. Mr. von Ahn, a MacArthur Fellow, has dedicated his career to driving innovation in the tech field that positively impacts society. If you’ve ever tried to learn a new language, then you might have gotten started on his massively popular creation Duolingo. Luis von Ahn’s philosophy of democratizing access to education for the betterment of all reflects the values that we at ALDEA espouse and we are proud to have the support of his foundation.
